State Song of Uttarakhand
dehradun Uttarakhand has got its State Song. State Song was publicly dedicated at Chief Minister House, New Cant Road in presence of Chief Minister of the State Harish Rawat on Saturday. Recently, cabinet has approved State Song of Uttarakhand.
In his address, Chief Minister Shri Rawat expressed gratitude of Chairperson of State Song Selection Committee Laxman Singh Batohi, others members of committee, Lyricist of State Song Hemant Bisht, composer and singer of song Narender Singh Negi and Anuradha Saras and appreciated the song as it incorporated the culture, history, geography and identity of people of Uttarakhand. Actually it’s an effort to summarise our vast culture into few words. It contains Uttarakhand sprit along with respecting our local languages.
Chief Minister Shri Rawat made request to prepare a short draft (2-3 Minutes) of this 9 minutes long song so that song might be sung in formal programmes. But basic spirit of song should not be affected.
Chairperson of State Song Selection Committee, Laxman Singh Batohi apprised that 203 entries were received by committee. Song written by Hemant Bisht was unanimously approved after phase wise sorting of these entries. Local culture and spatially elements have been given importance in the Song. Garhwali and Kumauni languages each have a paragraph in the Song. Three entries had been received for composing State Song, composition of Narender Singh Negi was found suitable.
Composer and Singer of State Song Narender Singh Negi said that short draft of State Song according to expectations of Chief Minister Shri Rawat would possibly be prepared till end of the month.
Chief Minister Shri Rawat also felicitated the Chairperson of State Song Selection Committee Laxman Singh Batohi, Others members of committee, Lyricist Hemant Bisht, Narender Singh Negi.
