dehradun The Chief Minister Harish Rawat inaugurated the 16th state level School Athletics, Literary and Cultural Contest at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun on Monday. During the program, the CM gave approval to increase the funds for organizing this event. He also approved Rs. 100 as an honorarium for this year and Rs. 150 for next year for the participants. The CM Shri Rawat also increased the amount which was given to the first, second and third winner. The amounts of money have been enhanced to Rs. 1000, Rs. 800 and Rs. 600 from Rs. 500, Rs. 400 and Rs. 300 respectively. He also asked the Schools to send proposals to prepare the ground for each school so that the students may get the better environment of sports. He said that government is trying to promote rural and traditional games along with institutional games.

The CM stated that the state government is trying to improve the quality of education; however, public participation is required for this. Teachers as well as parents must focus on the children. Rural games in 2015-16 and Institutional games in 2015-16 are being organized at state level, so that; competitor from the state may get more medals in national games to be held in 2018 and this will help to establish sports bank in the state.

During the program, the CM Shri Rawat awarded the first, second and third winners of 800-meter race by giving medals. The Government Inter College, Chharwa and Gwaldam were also awarded by providing Rs. One Lakh Rupees for meritorious work towards environment.

          The Cabinet Minister Mantriprasad Naithani, MLA Umesh Sharma, Dhirendra Chauhan, Secretary and DG Education D. Sainthil Pandian with other officials, teachers and students were present on the program.
