Mr Trivendra Singh Rawat said that to ensure the continuous flow of river Ganga,  multiple efforts are needed. “Tree-plantation is an important component of it, while we must also reduce the use of pesticides,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the people of Uttarakhand have a greater role in this, and we must try to revive and conserve various water streams that contribute together to make river Ganga. In order to maintain the flow of water in rivers, we must stop the water in our agricultural fields and in our villages, from running away. Rain-water harvesting is also an important part of this process. “The state government will do the bigger tasks but its people must undertake the smaller tasks and complete them. If everyone works together in one direction, then the task of reviving rivers can be achieved. To correct the future, we must improve the present,” he added.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarath Niketan said that we must carry out continuous efforts to conserve our rivers. The aim of this summit is to work on suggestions given by various public representatives and officials. Present on the occasion were Haridwar’s Mayor Manoj Garg, Col. R.S. Rana, and many other dignitaries.
