dehradun Chief Minister of the State Shri Harish Rawat has expressed his deep concern over the loss of lives due to hefty rain and land sliding occurring in Districts Pithoragarh and Chamoli since last day. Chief Minister Shri Rawat conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of deceased and his prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. Chief Minister announced to grant relief fund of Rs 2-2 lakh to the families of deceased. Saying it a very grievous incident Chief Minister of the State assured that State Government is standing with the affected people strongly. Chief Minister called upon the District Magistrates concerned to extend immediate required medical treatment to the injured along with approved relief fund. Chief Minister Shri Rawat gave directions to concerned District Magistrates to speed up the relief and rescue tasks. Chief Minister directed the commissioners of both circle to monitor the relief and rescue efforts by setting up camps in affected areas. He asked to provide better medical facilities to injured along with initiating relief distribution process for affected people immediately. SDRF personnel should be deployed in these regions which would cooperate with District Administration in relief and rescue works. Helicopters are being made available to extend help to the affected people. Chief Minister Shri Rawat also instructed the District Magistrates to update the Chief Secretary regarding information of disaster in their concerned Districts constantly. Sufficient food grains should be available in affected areas. Closed roads should be opened with immediate response. Interrupted electricity, water supply should be restored as early as possible. People residing in river’s banks should be sent to the safer zones; Chief Minister Shri Rawat gave major above directions.
According to information (till 11:00AM) received from State Emergency Operation Centre , rain and land sliding occurred in subdivision Thal, Dharchula, Didihat, Gangolihat, Pithoragarh Kanalicheena Berinag, Bangapani Davethal and Gannaigangoli. Total 163 families in Naulna Gaun/Nachni, subdivision Thal were affected while 3 people dead. District Administration sent off NDRF Almora, SDRF, SSB, ITBP, Asam Regiment Charma and search and rescue team on the spot. According to information received from District Chamoli, land sliding occurred in Jakhnigauv Tahsil Ghat, 2 people dead while 5 persons are missing there. Rishikesh-Gangotri-National Highway is open till Gangotri for vehicles in Uttarakashi . Rishikesh-Yamnotri Highway is open till Jankichatti for vehicles.
